Tansei Institute entrusted me with researching into the textile departments of four museums in Europe: Musee Historique des Tissues, Lyon; Abegg-Stiftung, Bern; Museum fur Volkerkunde, Basel; Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Reports of four museums were compiled into the construction plan of Kobe Costume Museum, Hyogo.
1990 Fashion Institute of Technology Research
Tansei Institute entrusted me with researching into the Design Laboratory of Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. The report was compiled into the construction plan of Sumida Fashion Museum, Tokyo.
1989 – 90 Analysis of Textile Structure, Weaving Technology and Terminology
I researched the problems of current terminology of textiles by examining The Textile Museum Collection, documenting microscopic photographs, diagramming the woven structures, producing the weaving samples and compiling bibliographies.

EXHIBITION COORDINATION

1994 “Nihonga – Transcending the Past: Japanese Style Painting, 1868 – 1968” at the Saint Louis Art Museum, Missouri. I was entrusted by the Japan Foundation with loan negotiation with Japanese lenders.
1994 “Japanese Art after 1945: Scream against the Sky” at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Soho and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
I was entrusted by the Japan Foundation with exhibition coordination (negotiating loans and transportation, and preparing condition reports and display instruction manuals).
1992 “Public Art Proposals” at “Nippon International Contemporary Art Fair”, Yokohama. I researched, registered and negotiated loans of visual materials, wrote, translated and edited descriptions for catalogue publications and visual programs.
1989 “History of Japanese Posters” at the World Poster Museum of World Design Exposition, Nagoya. I researched and registered objects, negotiated loans, arranged transportation and insurance, and proofread catalogue publication.

EXHIBITION INSTALLATION AND COLLECTION MANAGEMENT

1990 “Ed Rossbach: 40 Years of Exploration and Innovation in Fiber Art” at The Textile Museum, Washington, D.C. I mounted several objects and assisted the exhibition installation.
1990 “Art from the Navajo Loom: The William Randolf Hearst Collection” at The Textile Museum, Washington, D.C. I mounted several objects and assisted the exhibition installation.
1989-90 Room 31 and 41 Rehousing Project at The Textile Museum, Washington, D.C. I documented the condition of the objects, handled fragile textiles and prepared them for storage with conservation materials.
1989 “Dragons, Blossoms, Sunbursts: Textile Arts of Caucasus” at The Textile Museum, Washington, D.C. I mounted several objects and assisted the exhibition installation.
